Artist Biography

With his lush voice and exquisite song craft, "The Ride", the latest CD from acclaimed singer-songwriter Jay Jacobson, finds him in top form. This Los Angeles based singer-songwriter (originally from Philadelphia), once again pushes the boundaries of pop and emotionally charged lyrics. From the heartfelt, "Maybe One Day" written for his recently passed away grandmother, to the exuberant dance anthem "Animal", to the bittersweet reflection of "I Lived", all 11 original tracks on "The Ride" expertly showcase Jay's unique sound and skilled songwriting, as they create a journey through life's ups and downs and loves and losses, framed by exquisite pop-infused orchestrations. "I wanted to write about the acceptance of life, with all its bumps and wrinkles included".

"The Ride" is his fifth studio CD. His musical catalogue has been played on radio and podcasts around the world, and he was named "The One to Watch" on the UK "Off the Charts" radio show. Jay's debut CD, "Infinite Man", produced by Spanish superstar Manuel Iman, showed an incandescent vulnerability in a fusion of pop and rock with sultry flamenco guitar, highlighting the purity of his voice and honesty of his lyrics. Following "Infinite Man" came Jay's Top 10 internationally charting single, "Boy", from his second CD, "Ready". "Ready", which was produced by Barrett Yeretsian (producer and co-wroter of the Christina Perri hit "Jar of Hearts"), was loaded with expressive melodies over unsuspecting waves of electronica, creating a sound they appropriately called, "emotional trip-hop". This was followed by "Revelations", an undeniable benchmark in Jay's evolution as an artist - with his well-honed lyricism and distinctive melodic style, tackling political, social, and personal topics. His first music video, "Love is Love", created a huge buzz online (being highlighted in "USA Today", "Towleroad" and other online sites), and went on to win multiple film festival awards. His fourth effort, "Peace At Last", delivered warm pop grooves, expressive classical elements, and gorgeous harmonies - including the defiant opening track, "Still Standing", the gut wrenching heartbreak of "And Now", and the inspiring chorus of the title track, "Peace At Last". "The Ride" takes Jay's unique sound to his most personally revealing work to date.

Jay recently performed a six week run in Hollywood, California, of an original show written by him titled "Mental Creatures". This critically acclaimed one-man-show and audience favorite included music from his catalogue of CDs, and incorporated it into a funny, moving and unique tour de force. In addition, he was part of the Ewing Concert Chorale for years, which included singing back-ups for Liza Minnelli on "The Tonight Show" and at Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles.
