Artist Biography
Having a natural love and intuition for music from a young age, Svea Lyon grew into to music just as much as music grew into her. Once she started playing piano at the age of only 14, things started to take new direction for her. She began creating, writing, and falling in love with the sound. One specific moment for her that changed things was when she learned Beyonce’s “I Miss You” by ear. This was a turning point for her and her relationship with music in general. Working on original material and playing around her community gave her what she needed to get where she is today. The “Lyon” album is her debut release and the epitome of where she is at with her music right now.

With the release of the “Lyon” LP, Svea Lyon brings a new feel to a classic genre. Lush with smooth progressions, an edgy but soulful vocal style, and plenty of pop undertones, the record boasts the aesthetic of fresh singer-songwriter anthems. Though the songs are diverse from one another, there is a glue that holds it all together much like a concept album would. Most importantly, the record never loses sight of the emotional platform great songs are built from.
The first single, “Little Mistakes”, grabs you with an immediately addictive vocal melody and an honest, straight forward lyrical approach as the song swells and breathes while it plays.
“It's a song about being with someone you trust who’s a friend, and then out of the blue there's romantic chemistry. I titled it Little Mistakes, because sometimes in life we make mistakes that shouldn't be a big deal (like kissing a guy you've friend zoned), but they end up changing everything. It’s young love, and the anxiety that comes with not being able to figure out what a person's true intentions may be ” explains the songwriter of her single.
Although the single does speak volumes for the album, to get a real understanding of where Lyon is coming from, it should be heard in its entirety.
“My album is extremely personal. So personal in fact, I'm going to call it my polished diary. Well these three diary entries all marked events in my life in which I was vulnerable, and wanted to get to the root of what I was feeling at the time. When I perform I do so with confidence and conviction, because I know I have something to offer. My voice became surer of its self, because of the recording process, and amount of growth I went through as an artist in order to release this record” says Lyon of the songwriting approach for the record.
