Singer/Songwriter from Detroit Wins Top Honors in 14th Annual Great American Song Contest Award winning singer/songwriter Stephanie K of Bloomfield Hills continues to rack up the awards after recently winning the “Best in Pop” title in the 14th Annual Great American Song Contest. Her hit song “Story of a Broken Heart” claimed the top honor and Stephanie is thrilled with the accomplishment. "It's an amazing honor to receive such a coveted award, especially from a panel of judges whose position in the music industry I truly admire”, she says. “I put so much into my music, so to have one of my songs named the ‘Best in Pop’ in an extremely competitive contest like this one, certainly makes all of the hard work worthwhile”. Besides her top finish in the Pop category, Stephanie K placed in the Top 5 in the Adult Contemporary category for her song, "Slap Me in the Face".
 
Judges for the awards included Grammy-winning songwriters, multi-platinum producers, as well as record industry mainstays. Over 1,500 songwriters from 44 countries participated in the competition. This award is just the most recent addition to a collection of musical accolades that Stephanie has earned over the past year. In April 2012, Stephanie K won 3 Indie Music Channel Awards in Hollywood at the House of Blues, including “Best Female Pop Artist of the Year”, and she was also recently recognized by the Nashville Songwriters Association International for her song, “Take Me Baby” in a song contest, presented by CMT - Country Music Television.

Biography:

Stephanie K's Hollywood looks and astounding vocal talent make a very powerful combination. She prides herself on the fact that she writes all of her own songs, lyrics and melodies.
Her songs have received awards from countless competitions and organizations, including Billboard, Music Nation, The International Songwriting Competition, The Great American Song Contest, The Los Angeles Music Awards, The Hollywood Music Awards, The International Singer/Songwriter Association, the International Unisong Contest, Show Me The Music Contest, The Indie Music Channel, The Nashville Songwriters Association International Song Contest Presented by CMT and The Music City Songwriting Competition.
 
Early in 2013, she was awarded 1st Prize in the 14th Annual Great American Song Contest from an esteemed panel of judges including Grammy-winning producers, multi-platinum songwriters and industry mainstays. In addition to her 1st place finish in the extremely competitive Pop genre, her song "Slap Me In The Face" finished in the Top 5 of the Adult Contemporary Category.
In 2012, she won the award for "Contemporary Artist of the Year" at the 22nd Annual Los Angeles Music awards, out of a pool of over 10,000 submissions. Also, she was the LAMA recipient for "Hot A/C Artist of the Year" in 2011.
 
In the spring of 2012, Stephanie swept the pop categories at the Indie Music Channel Awards, winning Best Pop Song, Best Pop Record and Female Pop Artist of the Year.
 
In addition, her songs have been placed in award winning television shows (including the hit sitcom "The Game"). Stephanie's unique persona blends youth, raw emotion and sophistication. Several months ago, Stephanie teamed with famed 4-time Grammy Award winning producer Michael J. Powell (who helped launched the careers of and produced numerous hits for superstars Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, Aaliyah, R Kelly, etc.) and the duo began an unprecedented collaboration for her upcoming album "Good Intentions". Their brand of music combines pop, soul, funk and rock elements that features a band comprised of world-renowned musicians. Edgy lyrics, Stephanie’s powerful and sexy vocals, raging guitars, live horns, soulful background vocals, funky drums, drive the tracks and create the backbone of her unique style. Stephanie has been a fearless and accomplished performer from the beginning. She has been featured on Inside Edition (the longest-running syndicated television newsmagazine in the country), FOX 2 News, WXYZ Channel 7 Action News, as well as in The Huffington Post, The New York Post, The Detroit Free Press and other noted television programs, websites and publications. Along with her band, she has performed her original material live on television, at numerous national festivals and in such famous venues as The Palace of Auburn Hills, The Whisky a Go Go and The House of Blues. She has been regularly selected to sing the national anthem at the Palace of Auburn Hills, the premiere arena in the Detroit Area, for the NBA's Detroit Pistons in front of sell-out crowds of over 22, 000 people. In addition, she is a regular singer for the MLB's Detroit Tigers and has sung for the Harlem Globetrotters, the WNBA's Shock, Oakland University, Motocross Tournaments, Toughman Contests and MMA Fight Nights as well. Her traditional anthem is a fan, staff and team favorite at the venues she frequents.
Prior to becoming a stage diva, Stephanie also worked as a DJ, Promotions Director, and News Director at a community radio station, WBFH 88.1 FM, for two years. She received several awards from both the Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) and the Michigan Association of Educational Broadcasters (MAEB), including the MAB award for second best DJ in the entire state. In 2002, she was the State Champion in the Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association (MIFA) State Finals Tournament in the category of Storytelling. Stephanie is an accomplished musical theater actress (her favorite roles inlclude Adelaide in "Guys and Dolls" and Reno in "Anything Goes") and she has also been a regular stand-in as The Detroit Pistons In-Arena Hostess on television during Pistons Broadcasts.
 
She enjoys running, pilates, blackjack and stoli dolis in her spare time.
